Safety Protocols Providing High Quality Care & Medicine Since 1995

Safety Protocols

Dear Valued Clients,

As we are all aware, COVID-19 cases continue to rise in our country. This is especially true in Essex County, New Jersey. With the holiday season upon us, health officials expect cases to increase even more so. For everyone’s safety, we anticipate continuing our curbside only service until conditions improve. We understand how much you wish to be with your pet during their examination, and we miss the personal interactions with you, our clients, just as much.

We have noted that many of our local clients walk to our hospital for their pet’s appointment. We are also aware that due to curbside service, appointments may take longer than usual, particularly if your pet needs any specialized care while here. With winter weather already here, we are very concerned about your comfort level and safety while waiting for your pet’s care.

For those of you who walk here, cold, rain, or snow can be very unpleasant. With those of you in your cars, we understand you may be concerned that leaving your car in idle will use up gas and be detrimental to the environment. We ask that you take this into consideration when you visit us and dress appropriately for the expected weather conditions. Please understand we are very aware and sensitive to your concerns and take your comfort and safety very seriously. If we anticipate an extended time with your pet, we may suggest you return home, and we will call you as soon as your pet is ready to be picked up.

We ask you to please follow the below instructions to keep you and your pets safe while using our curbside services. Upon your arrival for your pet’s appointment, please send a text message to (973) 354-5853 to let us know the following:

  • Reason for your visit
  • Your name and your pet’s name
  • The parking space you are parked in. If you walked to our hospital, please let us know where you are waiting outside.

A staff member will then get back to you as quickly as possible on the next steps. If you do not have texting capabilities, please give us a call at (973) 748-8042.

When your pet is with us, we will be contacting you by both phone and text. Please have your phone available while your pet is with us so that we may contact you promptly about your pet’s visit. Feel free to put us on speakerphone if there are other family members in the car that wish to hear about their pet’s visit.

Our pick-up times for food, medication, and other supplies is Monday-Friday before 3:00pm and between 4:30-5:15pm. We close promptly at 5:30pm. Please avoid coming to the hospital between 3:00 and 4:30pm. We are very busy with appointments and discharges, and parking is limited. Please call us prior to arriving to arrange payment over the phone. This will help expedite your service and minimize your waiting time in our parking lot. Saturday pick-up times are between 8:00-11:30am.

We thank you for continuing to help us stay safe during this time, and we look forward to seeing you and your pet soon! Wishing safe and healthy days to come.

With gratitude,

The veterinarians and staff of Essex Animal Hospital
